We have had a fairly quiet couple of weeks, with our normal daily duties in the office. There have been no major adventures. However, we wanted to send our blog today to let you know we are still alive.
Speaking of still being alive, it is hot….very hot. Not that we are complaining, but it is hot…very hot. Think of Darwin in the build up for the wet season, but without the clouds or the rain. It is hot and humid, but never rains. We have been getting temperatures in the low 30’s with above 90% humidity…every day. In the sun it is much hotter. We are just below the equator so the sun has a sting to it.
What is weird though for us it that at night it doesn’t cool down, it just gets dark. In fact any breeze tends to drop and the humidity rises. So there is no relief there. However, we are MOST GRATEFUL, for our small air-conditioner and pedestal fan in our apartment and that we get to work all day in a very nicely air-conditioned modern office. Although that has been having some difficulty over the last week, but we won’t go there.
As for other news….Lesley began teaching keyboard lessons to her young students again this year. There are about twenty, mostly the same as last year with a few extras. Last Sunday night just down the road from our apartment was a Rolling Stones concert. It was the first time they had played in Lima. Hundreds of people and the usual traffic jam were just outside our window. We didn’t go, because it was on a Sunday night and we thought it probably not appropriate for a Sunday or as senior missionaries. Craig hoped that some dulcet tones might drift through the windows, but there was actually some breeze blowing, and it headed the other way. He figured someone somewhere was laughing.
